Mr Fırat said that he applied to the speaker’s office of the Parliament to open Ottoman courses under the roof of TBMM.
Noting that they aimed that the MPs learn the language of their ancestors, Mr Fırat told that Ankara representative of Hayrât Foundation, Mr Said Yavuz, and other teachers were teaching at the course. He added,
“We think that Ottoman Turkish is very important to connect the past and today or tomorrow. We attach importance to Ottoman Turkish in order to be able to read our old manuscripts, the writings on Ottoman coins, banknotes, on land registries, in mosques, or in madrasas, and hand down them to our new generations. That is why we arrange this course, and our friends are really interested. We learn Ottoman Turkish together with 36 friends.”
